    350401 - S.C.U.B.A.

    Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You will also earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification that is recognized worldwide. You'll earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives. This is part one of a two part certification course. Part one consists of the academic (classroom) and confined (pool) portions. Then you can either make arrangements in the Spring/Summer to complete Part 2 (open water training) through the staff of instructors at Great Lakes DiveCenter or purchase a referral kit to complete your part 2 while on vacation.

    This 2 day course usually meets from 9:00am to 8:00pm and consists of part one (classroom and pool portions) of the PADI open water certification course.

    Pre-requisites: Minimum of 10 years of age; ability to swim 200 yards without equipment or 300 yards with mask, fins & snorkel.

    369901 - Bike Loan-Spring Summer

    The Bike Loan program for Students, Faculty, and Staff who wish to check out a bike for an extended period of time. Schwin bikes will be available for check out at the Recreation Center from May 24, 2016 through August 18, 2016. Included in the no cost check out will be the bike and a lock. Participants will receive an information sheet when they check out the bikes with the expectations of the program. Provided that the bikes are returned with reasonable wear and tear, in good working order, there will no charge. However, students may be held accountable for mis-use, abuse or failing to return the bikes up to $200 on a case by case basis.

    On May 23, 2016, a lottery draw will be conducted to determine those who will have the first chance to check out a bike and the order of others for a waiting list. After the random draw, anyone wishing to sign up for the program may do so by either method and will be placed on the wait list in the order in which they are received. Those selected to check out a bike will be contacted and will be able to pick up their bike beginning May 24, 2016.

    Deadline to sign up for the lottery is May 22, 2016

    390104 - First Aid Blended Learning

    The purpose of this American Red Cross training course is to teach the lay responder the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to common first aid emergencies including sudden illnesses, burns, cuts, and more. This course does not include any CPR skills. After successful completion of this course, participants will receive an American Red Cross First Aid certification card that is valid for 2 years.

    This section of First Aid is offered in the blended learning format where participants will take a portion of the class online and a portion of the class in person; the online portion of the class must be completed at last 3 days prior to the in-class session of the course. Approximately two weeks prior to the classroom session, participants will receive an e-mail with a link to online portion of the class through the American Red Cross website.

    NOTE: This course does not include CPR/AED skills.

    1.5 Hours of Online Training must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Aug 22nd; print and bring completion record to in-class training session.

    390304 - CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers Blended Learning

    This purpose of this American Red Cross training course is to teach professional-level rescuers the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies. Topics covered in this training course include CPR and AED for Adult, Children, and Infants; use of a pocket mask; use of a Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM); and two-rescuer CPR. This course does not cover First Aid skills. After successful completion of this course participants will receive an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers certification card this is valid for 2 years.

    This section of CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers is offered in the blended learning format where participants will take a portion of the class online and a portion of the class in person; the online portion of the class must be completed at last 3 days prior to the in-class session of the course. Approximately two weeks prior to the classroom session, participants will receive an e-mail with a link to online portion of the class through the American Red Cross website.

    Note about class fees: For blended learning registrations, a portion of the fee will be paid when enrolling with the Department of Campus Recreation. The other portion of the fee will be paid when registering with the American Red Cross online training site.

    Note: This course does not include First Aid skills.

    PLEASE NOTE: this class does NOT fulfill the School of Health Sciences Requirements.

    The 2.0 hours of online training must be completed prior to 11:59pm August 16, 2016; print and bring with you to classroom session the proof of completion.

    390801 - Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED with First Aid

    The purpose of this American Red Cross training course is to teach the lay responder the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to both life-threatening and common first aid emergencies. Participants will learn skills to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in Adult, Children, and Infants along with skills to care for common first aid emergencies including sudden illnesses, burns, cuts, and more. The use of automated external defibrillators (AED’s) is covered in this training course. After successful completion of this course participants will receive American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification that is valid for 2 years.

    PLEASE NOTE: As told to University Recreation and Well-Being by the respective Departments, this class does NOT fulfill the School of Nursing nor the School of Health Sciences Requirements.
