Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You will also earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification that is recognized worldwide. You'll earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives. This is part one of a two part certification course. Part one consists of the academic (classroom) and confined (pool) portions. Then you can either make arrangements in the Spring/Summer to complete Part 2 (open water training) through the staff of instructors at Great Lakes DiveCenter or purchase a referral kit to complete your part 2 while on vacation.
This 2 day course usually meets from 9:00am to 8:00pm and consists of part one (classroom and pool portions) of the PADI open water certification course.
Pre-requisites: Minimum of 10 years of age; ability to swim 200 yards without equipment or 300 yards with mask, fins & snorkel.
