    271201 - IM Floor Hockey - Men's

    Floor Hockey is the closest thing IMís have to ice hockey. The intramural version is a no-contact sport which also restricts the stick from never passing the height of the waist. Played in the Activity Center of the Recreation Center, Floor Hockey uses a hard plastic ball in place of a puck and plastic sticks provided by the Recreation Center.

    290104 - First Aid Blended Learning

    The purpose of this American Red Cross training course is to teach the lay responder the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to common first aid emergencies including sudden illnesses, burns, cuts, and more. This course does not include any CPR skills. After successful completion of this course, participants will receive an American Red Cross First Aid certification card that is valid for 2 years.

    This section of First Aid is offered in the blended learning format where participants will take a portion of the class online and a portion of the class in person; the online portion of the class must be completed at last 3 days prior to the in-class session of the course. Approximately two weeks prior to the classroom session, participants will receive an e-mail with a link to online portion of the class through the American Red Cross website.

    Note about class fees: For blended learning registrations, a portion of the fee will be paid when enrolling with the Department of Campus Recreation. The other portion of the fee will be paid when registering with the American Red Cross online training site.

    NOTE: This course does not include CPR/AED skills.

    1.5 Hours of Online Training must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on April 16, 2014; print and bring completion record to in-class training session.

    290304 - CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers Blended Learning

    This purpose of this American Red Cross training course is to teach professional-level rescuers the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies. Topics covered in this training course include CPR and AED for Adult, Children, and Infants; use of a pocket mask; use of a Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM); and two-rescuer CPR. This course does not cover First Aid skills. After successful completion of this course participants will receive an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers certification card this is valid for 2 years.

    390401 - Lifeguard Training '12

    The purpose of this course is to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries. Successful completion o fthis course, which includes attending all class sessions, will certify participants in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED which is valid for 2 years.

    Prerequisites:
    -Must be 15 years old by the last day of the course
    -Swim 300 yards continuously
    -Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feed, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, all within 1 minute and 40 seconds.

    390801 - Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED with First Aid

    The purpose of this American Red Cross training course is to teach the lay responder the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to both life-threatening and common first aid emergencies. Participants will learn skills to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in Adult, Children, and Infants along with skills to care for common first aid emergencies including sudden illnesses, burns, cuts, and more. The use of automated external defibrillators (AEDís) is covered in this training course. After successful completion of this course participants will receive American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and American Red Cross First Aid certification cards that are valid for 2 years.

    PLEASE NOTE: this class does NOT fulfill the School of Nursing nor the School of Health Sciences Requirements.
